Automobile Natural Gas Fuelling Compressor Station Control

Control system structure

This system consists of compressor station control panel, control instrument for the natural gas dewatering unit,power-supply panel, emergency panel.

The control systems are developed on the basis of the OCTAGON SISTEMS microcontroller. The software for the control system controllers was developed using the program POLIGON. This made the process of development shorter as the setup of the program and the testing of the sistem by the large.


Purpose of compressor station control panel

The control panel is aimed on the compressor station with natural gas combustion engine drive and also on the control of the emergency protection and functioning of the station as the main control instrument of this system. The control panel should be placed in the flameproof room.


Basis Functions of compressor station control panel

  • the connection of the electric equipment to the power sources and power line protection
  • the automatic control of the startup and shutdown of the compressor station, of blowthroughs and the station"s ventilation.
  • emergency protection of the station in ase the controlled parameters deviate from admisible norms and turning on the light and chime alarm system
  • visualization on the front panel of the work of the station, agreates" startup, tap and valve conditions, the station"s time in use and operation time, the type of fault in the station"s time in use and operation time, the type of fault in the station"s emergency stop
  • emergency stop mode reset at the operator"s command
  • aggregate"s startup while in manual control
  • parallel exchange of signals of the "dry contact" type with the system of automatic control of the natural gas combustion engine, with a control instrument of dewatering unit and emergency panel
  • transmission of the data about the type of fault to the emergency panel by the channel of serial exchange at the RS485 protocol

Basic Functions of the emergency panel

  • the connection with the control panel by the parallel signal exchange channels of the "dry contact" type and by the serial exchange channel, RS485 interface
  • light and chime alarm system in case of emergency stop and the fault indication
  • the light indication of natural gas delivery into the fuelling system
  • emergency shutdown of the station by the operator
  • urgent shutdown of the station by the operator with remote disposal of the natural gas from the accumulator block container onto the plug
the emergency and urgent shutdown keys are protected from the accidental pressing

Basic Functions of the control panel for the natural gas dewatering unit

Control panel for the natural gas dewatering unit is developed for the control of the natural gas dewatering unit functioning and for the emergency protection of the block as the part of the system when setup in a flameproof room.

  • startup and shutdown of the dewatering unit from the station or from the front panel of this instrument
  • automatic control of parameters of such intensity that is necessary for the normal and safe technological process
  • automatic switch to the reactivation of adsorber that already have worked out for the dewatering, turning on the dewatering of the reactivated adsorber and also the option of switching the adsorbers by the operator
  • automatic reactivation proceeding
  • automatic emergency disposal of natural gas from the dewatering unit at the signal from the central control panel of the station or from the front panel oft this instrument
  • emergency protection of the dewatering unit without the evacuation of the natural gas transmitting to the central control panel the stop signal at the following parameters:
    - tap switching time
    - current overrun in the lines of the dewatering unit;
    - high temperature of natural gas on the input to the dewatering unit;
    - non-reactivated adsorber switched to the dewatering.
  • preventive alarm system in case the input natural gas temperature exceeds the permitted input temperature for the dewatering unit parallel
  • "dry contacts" signals exchange with the central control panel of the station
  • the option of communication with the PC or operator"s workstation on the base of the RS232/RS485 interface

The control panel also can function independently as the automatic control and protection system for the natural gas dewatering unit.
