Modular gas-turbine power station control system

Purpose

"Promautomation" designed and developed a control system for a modular gas-turbine power station (placed in a container) with power up to 2,5 MWt. This power station is aimed at power supply of objects in distant regions, on oil and gas fields and also can be used as a reserve power supply.

Basic functions

  • automatic control of gas-turbine power station state.
  • controlling the gas-turbine duplex gear of the electric generator.
  • controlling the generator drive system.
  • controlling the power station"s container auxiliary equipment.
  • automatic startup of the power station and setting to the definite working mode.
  • automatic synchronization with the circuit
  • power station startup in absence of outer circuit.
  • automatic service of engine motoring and gas-turbine engines false startup.
  • anti-breakdown and fire-prevention security.
  • control of the produced electric power parameters.
  • economic indicators registering.
  • maintaining operator"s access to the controls and information about power station from the local control board and from operator"s board.
  • configuration of analogous measuring channels.

Control system structure

The basis for the control system is the industrial controller MicroPC standard. Execution cycle of the system"s algorithms is 10 ms. During this cycle the controller requests the signals from external sensors, executes an algorithm and produces the operation signal to the controlling organs of two gas-turbine engines and to the power station container auxiliary equipment, such as oil and fuel pumps, coolers etc.

Connection-with-the-object devices ensure galvanic isolation not less than 1500 V for all input and output and output signals of control system"s panel.

The control system provides operation of the power station from local control board l ocated on the control panel door as well as from the operator"s station, located outside the power station container. Startup and mode-changing operations are fully automated.

Realization features

Gas-turbine engine controlling algorithm includes:
  • turbo-changer rotation speed regulator;
  • power turbine rotation speed regulator;
  • active electric power regulator with line frequency correcti;
  • maximal pre-turbine gas temperature regulator;
  • startup temperature gradient regulator;
  • regulator of minimal supply before turbo-changer pumping;
  • gas temperature increase security;
  • turbo-changer pumping security.
The control system ensures the work of the power station in below basic modes:
  • keeping frequency and voltage in an autonomous line;
  • keeping the set active and reactive power value in a common line;
  • participating in the primary frequency regulation in the common line;
  • work as a part of gas-turbine power station group with automatic loads distribution.

Operator"s station

Operator"s station serves for power station control from a stationary room. Its basis is a PC with a SCADA system installed on it. Communication with the power station control panel is established via Ethernet network.

Operator"s station is a convenient and an operator-friendly interface developed as a set of symbolic circuits on the computer screen. The circuits display the general as the state of the power station itself so the state of its subsystems. Operator"s station implements sound and voice emergency signaling system, for example, fire-prevention system.

Operator"s station makes the records of all parameters measured and calculated on the power station to the archives on a hard drive. It is also possible to review the diagrams of economical indicators for the set period.
